What do iced coffee, ultimate Frisbee, and your photography session have in common?
If you said, βTheyβre a few of Jennaβs favorite things,β youβd be right.
(Just, you know, not all at the same time.)
If youβre going to hire me as your photographer, you should probably know a little about me.
Iβm Jenna Heckel, a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
But I love to travel, so if youβre looking for elopement or destination wedding photography, do hit me up.
Iβm also a wife (to Austin, my favorite camping pal), mom (to Leeland and Lany, the coolest kids ever), and athlete (if you count power lifting and, yes, ultimate Frisbee).
My approach to photography is serious yet friendly, stunning yet real.
I still canβt believe I get to take peopleβs pictures for a living.
Maybe thatβs why I work so hard to make you feel relaxed, amazing, and completely taken care of.
My very first photos were absolute garbage.
I mean it. From the rolls of film on family trips to the countless βfashionβ pictures of my sister, I wasnβt exactly a young Annie Leibovitz.
Even my first βpaidβ photography session wasnβt much to brag about. I was a sophomore in high school, I got paid like $60 bucks to take a friendβs senior photos, and I think I used Picnik to edit them.
*Facepalm.*
But you know what? I loved taking peopleβs pictures, because I loved telling their stories. And I couldnβt stop if I tried.
Fast-forward to today, and Iβm now a legit, full-time photographer in Sioux Falls (when Iβm not caring for my awesome son, Leeland).
Iβve shadowed some really talented photographers, learned how to shoot and edit properly, and built up a great collection of gear. Because of that, I get to photograph some incredible people who trust me with their stories. I especially enjoy working with couples and mothers because Iβve been in their shoes, but I cherish the opportunity to draw the story out of anyone.
Itβs been a long road, but God has brought me to a place I truly canβt believe.
I think itβs because of my gratitude that my clients describe me as genuine, easygoing, organized, and personable. I like to have fun, yet I take your session very seriously.
After all, it takes a lot to trust me with the big moments of your life.
Thank you for the opportunity to take your picture and tell your story.
