Jenna Heckel, a Sioux Falls photographer

What do iced coffee, ultimate Frisbee, and your photography session have in common?

If you said, “They’re a few of Jenna’s favorite things,” you’d be right.

(Just, you know, not all at the same time.)

If you’re going to hire me as your photographer, you should probably know a little about me.

I’m Jenna Heckel, a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

But I love to travel, so if you’re looking for elopement or destination wedding photography, do hit me up.

I’m also a wife (to Austin, my favorite camping pal), mom (to Leeland, the coolest boy ever), and athlete (if you count power lifting and, yes, ultimate Frisbee).

My approach to photography is serious yet friendly, stunning yet real.

I still can’t believe I get to take people’s pictures for a living.

Maybe that’s why I work so hard to make you feel relaxed, amazing, and completely taken care of.

My very first photos were absolute garbage.

I mean it. From the rolls of film on family trips to the countless “fashion” pictures of my sister, I wasn’t exactly a young Annie Leibovitz.

Even my first “paid” photography session wasn’t much to brag about. I was a sophomore in high school, I got paid like $60 bucks to take a friend’s senior photos, and I think I used Picnik to edit them.

*Facepalm.*

But you know what? I loved taking people’s pictures, because I loved telling their stories. And I couldn’t stop if I tried.

Fast-forward to today, and I’m now a legit, full-time photographer in Sioux Falls (when I’m not caring for my awesome son, Leeland).

I’ve shadowed some really talented photographers, learned how to shoot and edit properly, and built up a great collection of gear. Because of that, I get to photograph some incredible people who trust me with their stories. I especially enjoy working with couples and mothers because I’ve been in their shoes, but I cherish the opportunity to draw the story out of anyone.

It’s been a long road, but God has brought me to a place I truly can’t believe.

I think it’s because of my gratitude that my clients describe me as genuine, easygoing, organized, and personable. I like to have fun, yet I take your session very seriously.

After all, it takes a lot to trust me with the big moments of your life.

Thank you for the opportunity to take your picture and tell your story.
